Student Instructions:
Please read and follow the instructions below for students entering Honors English. It is important to complete this assignment thoroughly in order to be prepared for class activities and ensure a successful start to Honors English.
*Students should read the text for the corresponding English course they will be enrolled in for the 2023-2024 school year.*
1. Read over the instructional guidelines and assignment to ensure you are aware of the requirements pertaining to the SER Assignment.
2. Obtain (on your own) and read the literary work for your upcoming course:

3. Complete the reflective journal. This will count as 50% of the SER Summative Assessment and will be turned in on the first day students have English. Journals must be HANDWRITTEN. Do NOT consult outside sources when completing this chart. We want your thoughts, not Shmoop’s. Charts with plagiarized material will receive zeroes.
4. Complete the second portion of the SER Summative Assessment at the conclusion of the teacher guided instructional unit. The second portion will also count as 50% of the SER Summative Assessment. The final combined score will count as a MAJOR grade within the first quarter of the enrolled semester.
