A: No, the student must be enrolled in a public, private, or home school.
Q8: When can a student get a Learner’s Permit?
A: When the student is 15 years old, if he/she has completed the classroom and Behind-the-Wheel phases of Driver Education.
Q9: What items does a student take to the driver license office to get a Learner’s Permit?
A: The student will need to take the following items:
- Driver Education Certificate
- Original or Certified Birth Certificate
- Social Security Card
- Driver Eligibility Certificate
- 1 parent or guardian to sign the permit
- $20.00 cash for the permit fee

A: If the student attends a high school in the Davidson County School System, then the student may contact an administrator or secretary. If the student is in a private school in North Carolina, the student may contact the principal of the private school.

A: Call the Driver Education Coordinator at the high school that is closest to their home.

Q18: How long does a student on the Level Two-Limited Provisional License drive on the 5:00a.m to 9:00p.m. curfew?A: Six months and the student must be ticket free for the six months to move to the next level
Q19: After successfully passing the 30 hour classroom phase, how long will it take before my child is called to drive?
A: Under normal circumstances, it will take 1 to 3 months for your child to drive. A driving instructor will call to set up schedule.
