The Reality Check is a  tool that links career planning with financial awareness. Users enter their lifestyle choices on topics like housing, food, entertainment, and transportation and receive cost estimates for these items at state or county levels.  The summary page calculates all expenses and then links students to Star Jobs that could support their choices.

Star Jobs provides a great deal of data for about 750 occupations. Approximately 550 of these occupations have Star ratings that are based on wages, projected growth rate, and projected job openings.  Each occupation has a rating of between 1 and 5 stars. Occupations with 5 stars are considered to have much better career prospects than occupations with fewer stars.

Occupational Profiles provides two-page PDF summaries of each of the Star Jobs and include information about occupational interests, skills, duties, education required, and NC workforce data like occupational projections, work settings, and wages.

NC Career Clusters Guide provides a structure for selecting careers based on linking what someone knows about oneself with information about occupations and typical training requirements.
