There is a National College Fair coming to our area! - Admission reps from hundreds of colleges and universities will be able to speak to students! Each fair includes a counseling ad resource center, and some locations will include workshops. In our area the locations and dates are: 
Charlotte, Sunday, March 12, noon-4:oo pm at The Park Expo and Conference Center in Charlotte, NC
Raleigh, Tuesday, March 14, 4:30-7;30 pm at the Raleigh Convention Center, Raleigh, NC

Also, students should preregister for the fair online AT THIS LINK where you will go through a 3 step process to print barcode ID, which will be scanned at the event to provide personal assistance and information.

Class of 2018 - Students interested in High Point University -
  If you are TRULY interested in High Point University AND have strong ACT / SAT scores, a GPA between 3.45-4.00, and are a good leader in your class, you might be interested in and/or qualify for the HPU Junior Scholars Program.

The North Carolina Hispanic College Fund awards annual scholarships worth between $500 and $2,500 
to help students who desire to attend college pay for their education.  Scholarships recipients are recent graduates of North Carolina high schools who are of Hispanic/Latino background.  Recipients of a NC Hispanic College Fund scholarship must enroll in a degree program at a community college or a 2 or 4 year college/university and be committed to public service and community development. All applications are due January 15, 2017. Another Rising Senior Opportunity
-  Union University, in Jackson, Tennessee announces it's Rising Senior Program, which is designed for "outstanding high school students who have completed their Junior year and want to 'try out' college during the month of June following their junior year.... This program is ideal for students who desire to deepen their understanding of what it means to live and learn as a Christian."  Please visit their website to learn more. Union University Website
ATTENTION JUNIORS! Click on the North Carolina Promise Tuition Plan link to learn more about this program established by the State of North Carolina with the intent of increasing college access through the UNC System while reducing tuition costs at three UNC system campuses: The University of North Carolina at Pembroke, Western Carolina University, and Elizabeth City State University.  The link explains the program, in full, and although the link is provided by UNC Pembroke, we are by no means endorsing one school over the other.  This is a great opportunity, beginning in the fall of 2018!

Forsyth Tech West Campus -   
Open House featuring Economic and Workforce development programs on Saturday, October 22, 2016  from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM.  Booths featuring a variety of FTCC program areas, as well as employers that hire FTCC students will be on hand.  Also speak to Financial Aid reps, enter for door prizes, and sit in on employer discussions regrading their employment needs.  This is open to the public.

Wofford College announces Wofford Scholars Program for Current High School Juniors!
Wofford proudly announces the 68th annual Wofford Scholars Program for qualified high school juniors interested in attending Wofford College, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Students must rank in the top 10% of the class, have a 1250 (critical reading and math combined) on the PSAT or SAT, or 28 composite on the PLAN or ACT, demonstrate scholarship, leadership, potential for success, and be willing to apply early decision or early action to Wofford by the application deadlines.
