Public Safety Academy Application

High school students who are interested in careers as firefighters, law enforcement officers, security officers, and attorneys are encouraged to attend one of the information sessions for the new Public Safety Academy. Admission to the academy requires an application process. A student will need to print the application, but they can type in their responses.

Credit by Demonstrated Mastery

Credit by Demonstrated Mastery (CDM) is the process by which schools, based on a body of evidence, can award student credit in a particular course without requiring the student to complete the classroom instruction for a certain amount of seat time. It is a way for highly advanced students to benefit from subject-level acceleration, as opposed to whole grade acceleration. All students in North Carolina Public Schools in grades 9-12 are eligible to request an opportunity to earn credit by demonstrating mastery for available courses. The deadline for requesting Credit by Demonstrated Mastery is December 20th.

EDHS Canned Food Drive

The EDHS Canned Food Drive for the Fair Grove Family Resource Center starts Tuesday, November 12th and runs through Tuesday, November 26th. It is sponsored by EDHS Clubs. Service hours can be obtained by students for donating at least 5 non-perishable items to their 1st period class. The class to bring in the largest number of items (based on class size) will receive a special treat at the conclusion of the drive.

Hat Day - November 15th

Friday is $1 Hat Day. Remember to bring $1 and wear your hat to support the March of Dimes. All students must purchase a sticker near the Guidance Office on Friday morning to be able to wear hats in the school building.

December Driver's Ed Class

The next driver's ed class will begin December 2nd. The class will run through December 19th. The times for the class are 6am to 7:30am Monday through Friday. On Saturdays, the class is from 8:00am to 12:30pm. Applications are online and paper copies are in the school offices. Students must be 15 by June 2, 2020 in order to apply. Applications are due November 20th at 3:30pm. No late applications will be accepted.
