Driver’s Education Program Information:

Eligibility Requirements

To participate in Driver’s Education, students must be in good academic standing, which means they must be passing at least 3 out of 4 classes. This requirement applies to both the classroom instruction and the Behind‑the‑Wheel portions of the program.

All school fees must be paid in full at the time of enrollment.

Important Notice

Driver’s Education is not a school‑mandated or required course.

This program follows North Carolina DMV regulations, which means all rules for attendance, behavior, and participation are set by the DMV—not by school policy.

Enrollment Information

  • Enrollment is first come, first served.
  • Each class is limited to 30 students.
  • Once a class is full, additional students must wait for the next available session.

State Requirements

The State of North Carolina requires all Driver’s Education students to complete:

  • 30 hours of classroom instruction
  • 6 hours of behind‑the‑wheel training

Students must attend all required instructional time to meet state standards.

Attendance Policy

  • Students may miss up to 3 hours total (approximately one class session).
  • Any missed time must be made up after the course ends.
  • Parent notes do not excuse absences or tardies.
  • Students who miss the first class session may not continue in the course.
  • The schedule cannot be adjusted, and no exceptions are permitted under DMV regulations.

Tardy Policy

  • Students who accumulate 4 tardies will be removed from the class.
  • Tardy rules follow NC DMV guidelines, not the school’s regular attendance policy.

Behavior Expectations

Students are expected to follow:

  • All guidelines and instructions from the Driver Education instructor
  • All school rules of the facility where the course is held

Students who fail to meet behavior expectations may be dismissed from the program.
