Accounting II Honors

Description (Accounting 1 is a prerequisite)

The course, BA20 Accounting II, is rigorous and relevant, is based on state and national content standards, and engages technology to teach today’s generation of students. Business and industry representatives reviewed the standards and provided input on the content for this course as one that helps to prepare students for high-skill, high-wage, or high-demand occupational opportunities.

 

This course is designed to provide students with an opportunity to develop in-depth knowledge of accounting procedures and techniques utilized in solving business problems and making financial decisions. Emphasis includes departmental accounting, corporate accounting, cost accounting, and inventory control systems, managerial accounting and budgeting, and further enhancement of accounting skills. Mathematics is reinforced and entrepreneurial experiences are encouraged.

 

The honors version of this course covers the material in greater complexity and acceleration.  Student learning must go beyond the skills of recognition, fact gathering and recall with an emphasis on problem solving and critical analysis.  Students will be required to demonstrate their learning through performances, presentations, demonstrations, applications, processes and products.

4.00 Analyze financial data to make managerial decisions.
